sin

Library: Trigonometry (OMTRIG)
Import: omtrig.xmd
Return type: opaque

Returns: The sine of a floating point number.

Declaration

export external float function
  sin value float x

Purpose

Use sin to calculate the sine of an angle in radians. The angle must be a floating point number. This trigonometric function works the same way as its equivalent in the C math library.

Example:

The following sample shows how to use sin to calculate the value of the sine of PI/2. The result is 1.00.

  import "omtrig.xmd" unprefixed
  import "omfloat.xmd" unprefixed
  process
     output "The sine of (pi/2) is "
         || "d" % (sin (pi / 2))
         || " %n"
  ; Output: "The sine of (pi/2) is 1"
